When I began my career as an Administrative professional I was a step ahead of my peers due to my military experience, I was familiar with the burgeoning technology affecting the workplace. As technology continued to advance my skills and knowledge base had to keep pace, while job descriptions shifted as traditional duties disappeared. While the positions of Office Manager and Bookkeeper changed I transitioned into other areas such as Supply Chain, Facilities, and working more with teams on various projects, always adding to my skills.
In most of my positions, I was the direct support to the CEO and often simultaneously assisted multiple executives in different departments. I kept them informed about the organization’s operational activities and issues, as well as presented policy and budgetary recommendations for review and implementation if approved.
As an Administrative professional I have knowledge of human resources policies, procedures, and regulations, am experienced in supervising full-time personnel and temporary staff, always with the goal of creating an inter-cooperative atmosphere and as Facilities Manager, it was my responsibility to maintain general administrative offices and supervise maintenance, fire, and safety requirements of a manufacturing plant. Upgrades and repairs were made quickly and to code, inspections were scheduled when required, and I insured permits were up-to-date.
An experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper, I have maintained corporate accounting at a Controller’s level and administered large-scale contracts including DCAA compliance. I use cost-effective practices, monitoring, and persuasive negotiation to remain within budget for specific projects and overall operations. Serving as Treasurer of the Joshua Tree Chamber of Commerce I became familiar with the specific needs of Non-Profits.
Excellent customer relations skills have been a key element to my success in challenging situations while my cheerful nature and integrity have led to positive and long-lasting relationships. Experience in advertising and marketing research gives me an insight into what could be the best options to recommend for campaigns, events, media outreach, and fundraising opportunities. I am familiar with utilizing up-to-date methods to “get the word out” and have built valuable connections with local press and media outlets. Additionally, I have planned and supervised events ranging from Mixers, meetings, and presentations to international trade shows.
